I love football season.  This is the time of year that I am permanently attached to my couch every Sunday afternoon.  It’s also a great excuse to hang out with friends and eat junk food.  One of my favorite appetizers to munch on is queso.  Easy to make and always a hit.  So, I was intrigued by this recipe that has no Velveeta in it.  Don’t get too excited- it’s still not healthy at all but you can make it with more “real” ingredients.

5 Ingredient White Queso

In case you’re not on Pintrest, here are the ingredients:
1 lb pepper jack cheese
8 oz cream cheese
8 oz sour cream
3/4 cup whole milk
1 can Rotel tomatoes with green chilies, drained.

Melt it all together and enjoy! The recipe does recommend using full fat ingredients instead of fat free or light substitutions and it also recommended trying half white American cheese and half pepper jack for a smoother texture.

My tip- It did come out a little lumpy but that might have also been my due to my impatience to eat it.  Consider adding a little more milk or using a handheld mixer or wire wisk to mix more completely. If you want to make it hotter, you could add a small can of diced chilies or jalapenos. I served it with spicy tortilla chips.

Enjoy!
