My grandmother (I call her Ammachi) does not own an iPhone. She is not on social media. She does not keep up with CNN’s updates regarding our current political climate or the world news. But she does sense the urgency of the days we live in.

This past week at her church’s Tuesday morning prayer meeting, my Ammachi spoke about the end times. She recited many scriptures regarding the last days. And she urged those present- Be prepared for Christ’s return.

My grandmother has lived over nine decades. She lived in the day when India was under the British rule. She has seen it all. She has faced many heart wrenching trials as well as exhilarating triumphs.

But through it all….One thing she encourages each of us to do-seek God daily.

Ammachi states, ‘We will all continue to face difficult situations until the day we breathe our last breath. The young have their set of trials. The aged have their set of trials. Young or old, we can not depend solely upon yesterday’s blessings to get us through today. We must seek God’s face daily. Meditating on the Word of God. Hearing God’s voice and preparing daily for the day of His return.’

My grandmother concludes with one final scripture.

Hebrews 12:1 “Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

If there is anything in your life today which entangles you. Anything preventing you from running your race and giving your all. The scripture commands us – throw it off! Throw it off so that you can be free to move forward, unbound, with full force, and accomplish all that God has for us…until the day He calls us home.image
