Will You Let Fear Do the Talking?

Recently, I had the opportunity to join my husband on his business trip to Paris.  While my husband set off to work, I decided to venture out and visit a cafe nearby. Everything in the vicinity was tourist-friendly and I felt comfortable.  The next day, I decided to visit a cafe farther away because they had great reviews. I pulled up the directions on my phone and I started walking.  However, as I was moving further away from the familiar, I began to feel nervous about where I was going. I mean, I was in a new city. I only

When Sophi asked us what our single years were like- we all agreed, we could have done better!!  “Our single years involved a lot of worrying, a lot of fear, a lot of woe is me, a lot of searching, and a lot of asking- when is it going to happen to me????” 😫😫 In this session, we had the HONOR of having Anu & Joyce join us as we tackle real questions from our single friends! ✨ Question #1 “I’m single, loving life…but the pressure is on. My mom often says, ‘ If you wait any longer, there may

"I regret to inform you..." The words I never wanted to see on the e-mail I had been anxiously waiting on. "Fail" A feeling of rejection washed over me as the monosyllabic word glared at me from the screen after I clicked "submit". "I'm sorry...you didn't make the team." My daughter, crushed, from hearing those words, cried. I sat with her as she processed it. "Our nation is under attack..." The voicemail my father left on our voicemail on September 11, 2001 while I slept after a night shift. "Israel is at war..." The text my husband sent me two

Tell Them

Everything’s bigger in Texas, including college rings. Just ask my nephew, Josh who just got his. Students at Texas A&M University, (typically juniors & seniors), who have finished a certain number of hours, are eligible to purchase their Aggie ring. But it isn’t just dropped off on the porch along with their Amazon purchases. This ring has its own day in College Station called Ring Day. People come from all over to celebrate. Once the designated time comes, the student, along with their crew of family & friends, walk together to pick up this infamous ring. Then, someone specifically chosen

The Time Is Now

Recently I’ve been challenged with my time.  Time is said to be more valuable than money.  You can always make more money, but you can never add more hours to your life.  Most of the time, I am looking for a large stretch of time in which I think I need to tackle a big project.  But when I can’t find those large chunks of time, my projects and even dreams get put on a shelf until I find the right time to start.  But more often than not, that time never comes. But what if I start looking at

Last year, my family and I had the opportunity to go on an RV trip.  It was quite an experience.  We were fortunate to go with another family who were well versed in the art of RVing.  They basically planned everything out, and we just tagged along. We rented a rather large RV to accommodate both of our families.  After a somewhat harrowing drive up to Oklahoma, we stayed at a small state park  The camp site was beautiful.  The weather was perfect. We enjoyed being unplugged and submerged in nature for a few days. Our hike on the last

Being Still in the Storm

Last weekend, we attended our first football game at our daughter’s university. We figured it was about time considering it’s her senior year. We left early on Saturday morning. Everyone was dressed in school colors. Music and banter filled the car ride for 3 hours. We couldn’t have been happier to finally see our girl and have lunch at one of her favorite spots.  Then, off we went to the campus. Parking had been a breeze since we bought a pass weeks prior. Once we started walking towards the stadium with the masses, all one could see was a sea

Generosity

Eight dollars. That's all my father had in his pocket when he came to America. After months of writing hand-written letters to each other, he met his beautiful bride at the airport when she arrived. A few weeks later, they were married in a chapel with friends as witnesses.  Their parents and siblings were thousands of miles away. Together, they started a new adventure as a family in a new country. Money was tight and they lived simple lives.  Then, expenses started to build up:  four children, a mortgage, a car. Despite the bills, one thing stayed constant: my father

When I was young, I didn’t think too much about what I would look like when I was 52. But here I is. ;-) However, I sure did have visions of what my life would be like. I was going to work as a pediatrician, marry a handsome man, have 2.5 kids and no dog (you read that right). We’d live in a big, big house with lots and lots of rooms, with a big, big yard where we could play football (#90schristiansong). I can check off a few of those things:  Married to a handsome man ✔️ No dog
